Writing

This collection of writing includes four pieces in two different formats. Two of the pieces are papers that I wrote for art and expressive arts therapy classes and two pieces are found poems arranged from recordings of oral research sessions with colleagues, undertaken for this project.

Papers

At a glance, these pieces look like academic papers and are APA formatted, however they deviate from the traditional academic paper in the way they are written. I wrote these assignments in a way that is more congruent with the way that my brain works. Therefore, though these pieces look like academic papers, they read somewhat differently.

Poems

The process for writing the following poems involved recording a discussion on my research topic with colleagues who have relevant professional backgrounds and transcribing the recordings. From there I chose phrases that stood out or impacted me. I colour coded them based on personal meaning and then edited and reorganized them into poems that comment on and provide insight into the topic of neurodivergent authentic embodiment. I chose to leave the poems in their coded colours because it was an important part of my process and is an example of a tool that I used to make the process smoother for my brain.
